During the pandemic, the already serious public health crisis of domestic violence has been thrust further into the spotlight. In this webinar we will explain and explore one effective tool for addressing domestic violence: a domestic violence restraining order (DVRO). We will give an overview on current law and procedure on who and what qualifies for a DVRO, how to request a DVRO, and ways to protect your client’s rights as you navigate the family court system. We will also review some of the challenges survivors face under the law that have been further illuminated in the last year, and potential legal and policy solutions to address these challenges.
