This position provides an exciting opportunity to advocate on a variety of health-related poverty law issues throughout the state. The successful candidate will work in each aspect of Western Center’s multipronged advocacy strategy: leading high impact litigation, engaging in policy advocacy, and providing assistance and trainings to local legal services attorneys.
DRC’s Healthcare/Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Practice
Group ensures access to health care services and a full range of community-
based long-term services and supports to enable people with disabilities to live in
the community and avoid institutionalization. Areas of particular focus include
Olmstead (community-integration) litigation and advocacy, Medi-Cal home and
community-based services waivers, In-Home Supportive Services, and access to
essential health care benefits through Medi-Cal managed care, EPSDT,
California Children’s Services (CCS), and other specialized programs.
The Legal Director of LGBTQ coordinates CRLA’s statewide advocacy for LGBTQ people and leads the implementation of its goal to increase access to justice for low-income LGBTQ people in rural California, particularly LGBTQ farm workers.
Working with the Basic Unit Director on statewide planning development and coordination of advocacy efforts, the Regional Director of Advocacy’s duties include:Supervision and mentoring of staﬀ advocacy eﬀorts Delivering and supporting litigation. Supporting other advocacy, including legislative, administrative advocacy and community education
With Root & Rebound and Soteria’s support, the Site Director & Managing Attorney will spearhead and direct a new legal initiative to serve individuals who have been involved in the criminal justice system, formerly incarcerated and/or preparing for their reentry, as well as a broader community of stakeholders across South arolina who believe in expanding second chance opportunities for people with records.
