The Daily Pilot covers Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Corona del Mar, and Irvine.

The Daily Pilot started off in 1907 and has been known as Newport News, Newport Harbor Pilot, the Orange Coast Daily Pilot and the Newport Beach-Costa Mesa Pilot.

The Pilot, with a circulation of about 30,000, won best community newspaper in the state by the California Newspaper Publishers Association in 2004.

DailyPilot.com launched in 2005 and has more than 9,000 readers every day.

Orange County Superior Court Judge Sheila Fell denied the city of Costa Mesa's motion to dismiss a lawsuit challenging a ban on most long-term stays in motels.
