Immigration Managing Attorney
The Watsonville Law Center (WLC) is a nonprofit legal aid organization providing free legal services to low-income households in Santa Cruz and Monterey counties. WLC works closely with community and health care partners to address legal and social determinants of health including access to housing, health, employment, immigration justice, and economic equity. Managing Attorney will provide legal services and programs for a community-based nonprofit legal aid office serving a diverse community. This position reports to the Watsonville Law Center Legal Director. The ideal candidate has experience in immigration. This position has shown dedication and experience working with immigrants, women, children, schools, healthcare systems, and the broader community. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to address equal access to justice and build expertise in working in the legal sector. For a highly organized applicant who has demonstrated productivity, WLC will negotiate flexibility in hours and work schedule. This is a hybrid in-person/remote position. LOCATION: Watsonville, CA 95076, with occasional travel to other service locations. Responsibilities Support and oversee the office’s immigration program, including strategic planning, supervision, and compliance. Supervise and conduct client intake, case reviews, and legal consultations. Experience in affirmative and removal immigration cases. Represent clients in all stages of litigation in state and federal courts, including removal defense and affirmative immigration relief. Oversee legal staff, volunteers, and interns; assign and manage caseloads. Support and staff community-based legal clinics. Identify and develop impact litigation and policy initiatives in collaboration with pro bono and nonprofit partners. Track service outcomes and assist with program reporting and compliance. Qualifications D.; admitted and in good standing with the California Bar. Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $95,000 – $105,000.00 – Depending on Experience Benefits for positions of at least 32 hours per week: Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurances, retirement plan, 15 Holidays and PTO.
