Navigating high school and university is difficult for anyone, but the novelty and new independence are that much more confusing for pregnant and parenting students. While laws protect pregnant and parenting students at both the federal and local levels, many do not know their rights, and numerous institutions fail to adhere to the necessary protocols. This training will explain the current legal landscape parents traverse on their campuses, as well as the shortcomings we see in California schools’ abiding by these laws. By the end of this training, participants should understand the rights of pregnant and parenting students protected by law and be able to identify the key areas of improvement on which educational institutions in the state should focus.
