Description

Recently, LAAC and OneJustice finalized our report, “Social Work Practices in California Legal Aid Organizations”. The goal of this report was to map the landscape of social workers in legal aid based on surveys and case studies of the legal aid community. Now, we would like to gather our community with a few organizations to discuss their successes and challenges of creating and supporting a social work program. This brown-bag event will feature a brief overview of the report’s findings, followed by a short structured conversation with the organizations, finishing with a Q&A and discussion.

Host:
Zach Newman, Senior Attorney, Legal Aid Association of California

Panelists:
Kate Marr, Executive Director, Community Legal Aid SoCal
Whitney Rubenstein, Director of Social Work Practice, East Bay Community Law Center
Andrew Cain, Directing Attorney, Law Foundation of Silicon Valley
Marin Castillo-Valle, Social Worker, Bet Tzedek

The Legal Aid Association of California (LAAC) produces trainings designed for civil legal aid and pro bono attorneys throughout the state, bringing the experts directly to the advocates helping low-income Californians. Technology permitting, all trainings are recorded and archived for later on-demand viewing by advocates. This training is intended to provide legal information, not legal advice, for the purposes of training only practicing attorneys. The legal information in this webinar is not intended to be a substitute for seeking personalized legal advice from an attorney licensed to practice in your jurisdiction.
