We are now rounding the decade mark since Congress repealed the provision prohibiting legal services attorneys from recovering statutory attorney’s fees in 2009. However, many legal services organizations and other nonprofits struggle to reap the benefits of the repeal for their clients and the organizations themselves. For many organizations, the recovery of attorney’s fees remains an aspirational goal. This webinar provides the basic mechanics and tools to transform the recovery of attorney’s fees from an aspirational goal to a reality. The webinar will provide training on: setting fee rates, maintaining and tracking time, client retainer agreements and client communications, seeking fees, and fee motion practice (with sample documents). The webinar will also highlight some common objections, both internal and external to the practice of recovery of attorney’s fees by public interest attorneys.
1 hour of general CLE.
