LAAC’s “Community Development Series” is a series of webinars featuring LAAC-member organizations that have received funding from the State Bar (from Bank of America and Citibank settlement agreements) for community redevelopment and foreclosure prevention programs all over California.

CANHR’s Home Equity Protection Program, has three core objectives:

1. Focusing on unsuitable reverse mortgage lending practices that have lead to defaults and foreclosures and to make suggestions about alternatives to these high cost loans, such as family support when possible or low-cost family equity lending arrangements.

2. Discussion of the problems with the statutorily created Transfer On Death Deeds, and

3. Giving an overview of the Medi-Cal estate recovery program as it pertains to the recipient’s home
