The heartache of the North Bay fires continue, this time for local tenants who are facing eviction from their rented homes. We are now seeing an influx of tenants in the Sonoma County area who are seeking aid after being notified that they’re being evicted. Most of the evictions are for landlord move-ins and late payments. Many area workers were temporarily displaced or unemployed after their worksites burnt down. Some people have gone weeks without any income because of this, and as a result haven’t been able to make rent. This is a crisis for many North Bay tenants, who say they’re unable to get financial assistance since they were not “directly impacted” by the fires.
