This election season Asian Americans Advancing Justice worked hard to get out the vote and empower California’s Asian American communities. AAAJ’s Los Angeles and San Francisco offices have made a concerted effort to ensure polling sites across the state comply with state and federal laws requiring language assistance for limited-English proficient voters.
They hope this will eliminate the fear that arises within immigrant communities who feel intimidated when entering the polling booth. The two organizations, with the help of local partners, sent over 600 trained volunteers to more than 900 polling sites in 25 counties across the state of California.
