Low enrollment among AAPI immigrants eligible for DACA prompted community organizations to push outreach. Representative Judy Chu noted that 10 percent of all undocumented immigrants were AAPI, including over 40 percent of eligible University of California students. She noted that only 2.6 percent are currently enrolled, when the rate should be closer to 8 percent.

Aman Thind, immigration project director for Asian Americans Advancing Justice, said that “The more people who apply, the more likely the program will remain available for years to come. There is strength in numbers.”

Community organizations like Pilipino Workers Center, the Korean Resource Center, Korean Immigrant Workers Center , and Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Los Angeles are offering programs and events to get the word out about DACA.
