SB 405, authored by State Senator Bob Hertzberg, would give amnesty to people who have had their licenses suspended due to outstanding traffic fines and court penalties.

“I think it would be a benefit to all those at risk,” said Sue Himmelrich, a Santa Monica citycouncilperson and special counsel at the Western Center for Law & Poverty, which is sponsoring the bill. “We have a large percentage of the population that isn’t as affluent as it used to be. I think [SB 405] would be a benefit to them.”
