Director of Administration

Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law

The Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law is seeking a knowledgeable Director of Administration interested in working at a nonprofit social justice organization. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Administration oversees all administrative operations at the Buhai Center and manages government grant compliance.


Key Features of this Job:

  • Serve as a member of the senior management team, responsible for the strategic planning and growth of the organization;
  • Oversee all administrative aspects of human resources, technology, finance, and operations;
  • Manage all government grant compliance work, including budgeting, expense allocations, reporting, and audit responses;
  • Supervise organization’s accountant, grants manager, and other administrative staff.


Essential Job Qualifications:

  • Two or four-year degree, preferably in nonprofit administration or management;
  • 2+ years of experience in a legal services nonprofit performing an administration or human resources management role;
  • 2+ years of experience in grant management;
  • General knowledge of financial management systems, nonprofit accounting, budgeting and financial planning, and government grant compliance;
  • Excellent administrative skills and experience;
  • Strong reasoning abilities and problem-solving/negotiation skills, sound judgement, and well-organized with good communication skills;
  • Proficient in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Teams, Planner, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Passion for social justice and the mission and vision of the Buhai Center.


Start Date: ASAP

Position: Full-time, Exempt

Salary and Benefits: $85,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include: medical, dental, and vision insurance; voluntary employee retirement plan; paid vacation and holiday leave; reimbursed travel and select continuing educational expenses; professional development.

Location: Hybrid; Office in Los Angeles/Koreatown
