SALARY RANGE: $57,585 – $77,169 DOE

The Youth Practice Group at DRC represents students with special needs in
individual and systemic matters. Our priority is to advocate for equal educational
opportunities, access to services in the most integrated settings and access to
special education and supports. The Youth Staff Attorney shares responsibility
with other legal and advocacy staff for providing information, technical
assistance, outreach and training and representation in administrative and
judicial proceedings to clients with disabilities. The Staff Attorney works under the
direct supervision of the Youth Practice Group Supervising Attorney or Associate
Managing Attorney and in collaboration with other Disability Rights California
attorneys and advocates in their legal, advocacy, and outreach efforts.
The Staff Attorney I will provide direct special education advocacy in due process
and state complaints. The Staff Attorney I will also have the opportunity to
develop litigation skills by working on impact litigation with more experienced
legal staff.
Minimum Qualifications: Juris Doctor degree (JD) plus admission to the
California State Bar, plus 1-2 years’ experience.
