We are looking for an experienced Program Manager (46906) to join our SAFE team in Los Angeles.

The Survivor and Family Empowerment (“SAFE”) Project assists low-income and limited-English speaking survivors of domestic violence with family law services, immigrant survivors of domestic violence and their children are vulnerable to abuse because of language issues, lack of financial resources, fear of authority and law enforcement, and unfamiliarity with the American legal system.
SAFE bilingual legal advocates focus on providing legal assistance including drafting legal documents and legal representation in courts to domestic violence survivors with family law and immigration issues. The assistance include obtaining restraining orders, child custody and support orders, divorce and paternity cases. SAFE also assists survivors gain legal status without relying on their abuser through the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) or the U-Visa, designed to help victims of crime. SAFE provides monthly legal clinics and seminar/webinar to provide community education and services.

WHAT YOU BRING
- J.D. and must be an active member of the California State Bar within 7 months of hire date
- Minimum of four (4) years of direct experience in DV, Poverty Law, and/or Family Law
- Minimum of one (1) year of supervision
- Bilingual or biliterate in at least one Asian language strongly preferred (Chinese, Korean, Thai, Tagalog, or Vietnamese)
- Dedication to serving immigrant communities and a sincere commitment to working on behalf of low-income immigrants
- Valid driver’s license and/or access to alternative means of transportation
ABOUT THE ROLE
Under the supervision of the Managing Director of Client Services, the Program Manager is responsible for overseeing our Survivor and Family Empowerment program. This involves monitoring of various grant deliverables and compliance requirements. The Program Manager oversees a diverse team of attorneys, legal assistant(s), and interns in representing DV clients in family law matters, including handing their own case load. In addition, this position provides support with identifying and securing future funding. The pay range is $70,980 – $100,700 per year. This position is NOT covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Your day-to-day typically includes:
60% Manage Program Deliverables, Grants and Staff
- Ensure deliverables remain on track
- Responsible for organizing and analyzing data to prepare and draft monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual grant reports and invoices
- Coordinate and manage monitoring visit and audits to ensure grant compliance
- Works closely with granters and funders to ensure administrative grant compliance
- Manage sub-grantee contracts to ensure grant compliance
- Provide administrative support to Managing Director and Development department to seek future funding and assess current funding to sustain project work
- Directly supervise, mentor, and support SAFE staff, including interns and volunteers and provide opportunities for professional development and growth
25% Represent Clients and Maintain Client Caseload
- Maintain a reasonable caseload, providing direct client work
- Strategize taking on appropriate cases given community needs, priorities, and agency resources
- Oversee staff preparation for court appearances, court forms, and briefs
- Oversee preparation of court forms and legal documents on behalf of clients
- Provide legal substantive support and representation to DV clients, particularly within the Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities in the area of family law, including restraining orders, child support and divorce
- Maintain expertise and keep updated on changes in family law and the DV field, including domestic violence family law
15% Other Duties as Assigned
- Act as organization spokesperson for domestic violence services, including with media, community stakeholders, donors, and with Advancing Justice affiliates
- Represent the organization in family law and/or DV networks and coalitions, including to advocate for the needs of AANHPI DV survivors
- Support policy unit in order to analyze, draft, and advocate for policy/legislation
- Participate in strategic meetings with other legal and community groups
- All other duties as assigned
