SALARY RANGE (Depending on Experience): $19.29 – $25,84 hourly

Disability Rights California (DRC) is a well-established and innovative non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the rights of Californians with disabilities. DRC works to achieve fairness and justice for people with disabilities through individual and impact litigation, state and federal policy and regulatory advocacy, and community education and training.

 

Peer Self Advocacy Unit (PSA)

In PSA, people with mental health disabilities share experiences. They help their peers speak up, make decisions, help each other and live the lives they choose. We reach out to the community. We hold self-advocacy groups and trainings where people live and in the community.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The PSA Trainer provides peer self-advocacy training for people with mental health disabilities who live primarily in locked residential mental health facilities, state hospitals and in the community.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently receiving or has received mental health services and self-identify as a peer with a mental health disability.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One year experience facilitating group meetings or providing trainings.
  • Experience working with or understand and value people with disabilities from ethnic- or language-distinct or multi-ethnic communities.
