Position Summary:

San Luis Obispo Legal Assistance Foundation (SLOLAF) is seeking a full-time Office Administrator.  Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, and taking some direction from the Legal Director, the Office Administrator is responsible for handling most of the administrative tasks of the office, which include:

  • Completing client intakes
  • Scheduling and confirming client appointments
  • Maintaining client files
  • Data collection and reporting to the organization’s grantors
  • Supporting volunteer and staff attorneys
  • Document preparation
  • Online court filing
  • Administering SLOLAF’s Family Law Advice Clinic
  • Assisting with annual fundraiser and letter campaign
  • Assisting with general office duties (ordering supplies, etc.)
  • Assisting with maintenance of information technology systems

This position may require other related assignments and occasional work on weekends, evenings and/or extended hours.

About SLOLAF:
Formed in 1992, SLOLAF’s mission is to provide legal access to justice for low and moderate income SLO County residents. SLOLAF’s largest program, Senior Legal Services Project, provides free legal assistance to over 400 SLO County seniors each year and referrals and community outreach to over 600 seniors annually. SLOLAF partners with CAPSLO on the Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program, which provides free legal assistance to veterans who are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. SLOLAF also administers the Family Law Advice Clinic, providing legal advice on family law matters for low income SLO County residents.

SLOLAF seeks to expand its services and this position will play a key role in that expansion.  This position provides an employee the opportunity to do rewarding work in a dynamic work environment.

Skills & Other Requirements:

  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred (speak/read/write)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar position
  • Law office experience preferred but not required
  • Must be available until 6pm on two Mondays a month.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills
  • Ability to rapidly switch between tasks in a fast-paced office
  • Must work well with others and have a good sense of humor
  • Must work well independently and be willing to take initiative on projects
  • Must be adept with Outlook, Microsoft Word & Excel, Adobe, and the internet
  • Experience with WordPress and MailChimp a plus
  • Passion for SLOLAF’s mission & understanding of non-profit organizations

Compensation:

  • $18-24/hour depending on experience (non-exempt) plus benefits
