Join an organization advancing equality through free legal services for low-income people. The Justice & Diversity Center of The Bar Association of San Francisco (JDC) has an opportunity to join our team as Office Administrator for the Pro Bono Legal Services Program.
JDC is a non-profit organization that provides free legal services to 9,000 low-income people each year. JDC staff attorneys and social service advocates partner with volunteer attorneys, interpreters and law students for holistic advocacy that seeks to address clients’ overall needs.
About the Job:
JDC’s Pro Bono Legal Services Program aims to make our longstanding client services more accessible and responsive. This position will play a key role and work closely with the Program’s Director to implement effective, efficient and service-focused practices for a team of 25 people. The position offers rewarding work in a dynamic mission-oriented work environment.
Responsibilities include: Coordination for needs at main office and three court-based offices (ordering supplies, supporting staff and volunteer attorneys, routing mail, staff meetings and celebrations, etc.); coordinating data entry and collection for reports to grantors; answering client phone line two days a week and completing intake interviews; assisting with onboarding and training new staff; processing financial invoices and receipts; taking minutes at board meetings; event support (primarily with one annual celebration for 200 attendees and several trainings year-round)
The successful candidate will have the following:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar position
High proficiency in office technology, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), and working knowledge of Access or other database software
Law office experience is a plus but not required
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
Excellent oral and written communication, organizational and client service skills
Strong attention to detail
Performs well as part of a team, with respect and humor, but also able to work independently and take initiative
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to completion
Exercises good judgment in various situations
Oral fluency in Spanish and English is a plus
Experience working with low-income communities or survivors of trauma is a plus
Event planning experience is a plus
