Archived Online Trainings
We call all our trainings "Armchair Trainings" because you can participate at your desk, on your phone, or from the comfort of your own armchair at home.
The Legal Aid Association of California, in conjunction with OneJustice, offered a free training series for legal services attorneys, fellows and others interest in legal services. The course was designed as a multipart series of webinars to introduce new attorneys to legal services work and some issue-spotting on core poverty law issues. The series ran for two years, and most sessions are archived online at www.vimeo.com/laac/videos. Each Intro to Legal Services webinar is approved for one hour of MCLE general self-study credit.
Launched in November 2006, the LAAC Trainings on Senior Legal Issues focuses on issues affecting low-income seniors. Although the primary intended audience is advocates for seniors, most of the trainings are appropriate for all advocates, as they cover issues common to most legal services clients. Most sessions are archived online at www.vimeo.com/laac/videos. Each webinar is approved for one hour of MCLE general self-study credit.
Housing issues continue to be the highest area of legal services cases closed, representing more than 20% of our community's cases every year. Building upon the tradition of frequently offering housing trainings in our other series, and in response to this huge need, LAAC has increased its Housing Law trainings by including a Housing series in 2012.
This consumer series sessions was chosen in a response to a survey that was sent out in 2011 assessing the training needs of the legal service community. The topics covered will include credit reporting, auto-fraud, identity theft, and debt collection.
LAAC's Family Law Webinar Series is a continuion of LAAC's Annual Family Law Conference that takes place in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Sessions were chosen based on participants' evaluations, and topics range from housing, Visas, pregnancy and parenting youth, and the intersection of immigration and domestic violence.
Launched in Spring/Summer of 2012 LAAC's Litigation Series covers trainings from the basic aspects of litigation to the more advanced theories and concepts.
LAAC responds to member requests for trainings in a variety of subjects not mentioned above. We frequently call these series our "Virtual Traveling Training Series," and we bring the Support Center experts to your computer and smart phone. Most are archived online at www.vimeo.com/laac/videos.
